Casa Lume

A narrow Alfama plot, six metres wide, rebuilt vertically after the original structure was lost. The staircase is the building: everything else hangs off it.

Four floors, one gesture

Oficina Sul kept the street facade and the original azulejo panel beside the door, then built a new concrete core behind it. The stair is cast in place, lit from a rooflight, and open on all four levels so the whole house shares one volume of air.

The roof terrace faces west across the rooftops toward the Tejo. It is the reason this house exists at this price, and it should be seen in the last hour of daylight.
